About Caty

"It's impossible to make music and feel unhappy at the same time." - Ben Poulin

Caty Poulin and her husband Robert are the parents of two ROAM students, a drummer and a guitarist/bassist/vocalist. During the pandemic, virtual music lessons became a lifeline for their kids, an oasis of normalcy they looked forward to every week in a most difficult time. The shutdown became an opportunity to triple up on virtual music lessons, extend online jam sessions, and create a playlist for any situation life could throw at us. Music was key to how our family got through the hardest days, and how we connected with others.

Caty has spent her professional life creating equitable access to capital, housing, health, and food for under-resourced communities at home and abroad. Friends of ROAM is a natural extension of her lifelong mission of breaking down barriers to opportunity: she is grateful to work with Friends of ROAM to create pathways for kids to explore their creativity and forge new connections through music. She is also forever indebted to her townhouse neighbors for enduring - even encouraging - the hours of amateur music-making while we were all stuck at home.
